Comfort Discovered is proud to be Assistive Technology Specialists, in Sydney, since 1984.

We are now offering AT Education & Training Professional sessions to Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

These sessions are presented by industry experts who specialise in allied health products for improved independence, quality of life and mobility. The products discussed are of the highest of quality, innovative and designed for individuals needs. Typically these products will need to be scripted for the end user.

 It is important for Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to understand the products, about the design and features of the products on the market today.

 The Comfort Discovered AT Education & Training Professional Sessions typically have CPD points attached. We offer light refreshments and there’s availability to visit our showroom which has the products available.

 Comfort Discovered can assist with the My Aged Care, NDIS, DVA and other programs.

About this Event:

Now more than ever, there is increased attention on the safety and quality of healthcare services being provided.

It’s essential for healthcare professionals to understand why and how pressure injuries occur, so that we can take proactive steps to prevent and manage them effectively. This understanding will enable us to develop proactive measures to prevent these injuries and implement timely interventions when they do occur.

This session will focus on discussing different types of equipment that can be used to prevent and manage pressure injuries. It will also cover specific considerations for special populations, such as those in palliative care, who are bariatric, or who have cognitive impairments.

Managing a client with a pressure injury required a multifaceted approach that
involves the client, their caregivers, and accessing expertise in the field of
pressure injury prevention and management.

approach allows Occupational Therapists to gain practical knowledge and understand
how to prevent and manage pressure injuries better.

5 May 2022: Practical ½ Day Course 8:30am to 12:30pm

Part 3 of 3: Tool Time – Manual and Power Wheelchairs

Content Overview: Building off what we’ve learnt from the Jay Seating Solutions class, this session will teach you how to make adjustments to back heights and angles, change armrest position and legrest lengths. A lack of confidence will no longer prevent you from making changes or giving advice on your client’s wheelchair ever again.

During Tool Time, we’ll have a go at changing wheel position on manual wheelchairs, adjusting and modifying Jay backrests to improve posture and function. You’ll have the opportunity to feel how these modifications effect posture and function first hand. Come energised and ready to learn helpful tips and tricks!

Part 1 of 3: Picking the Right Manual Wheelchair Frame – Don’t Stop There – Manual Wheelchair Prescription4 CPD’s

Content Overview: Improve your skills with assessment and prescription for manual wheelchairs so you can select out the best chair on the first go.

We’ll discuss and describe the differences  between transit, folding, rigid and tilt in space wheelchairs and the clinical benefits/considerations of each. User independence, function, long-term health and reducing overuse injuries throughout every step of the prescription puzzle will be factored with how you can apply this to trials. We’ll experience through trial and interaction how different frame styles and set-ups affect propulsion, comfort and ultimately client function. This is a great learning opportunity new OT’s and Allied Health Workers as well as for the experienced seeking to refresh knowledge.

Content Overview: Finding ways to maximise wheelchair and seating goals with off the shelf products and a limited budget is one of the biggest challenges that we may face. During this session, we will explore how to analyse postures and implement appropriate seating solutions to meet wheelchair and seating goals, while meeting budget restrictions.
